Roger Stortenbecker
Chief Operating Officer
Roger oversees the daily operations of Collaborative Industries, drawing on more than 30 years experience in the field of human services. Roger began his career in community-based developmental disability services in 1977 with the Lancaster Office of Mental Retardation where he provided direct support, vocational and residential services in Lincoln, Nebraska. After 13 years at Lancaster County, Roger accepted a position as Program Specialist with Nebraska Department of Public Institutions, now known as the Division of Developmental Disabilities. He worked his way up through the ranks to Director of the statewide Developmental Disability System. In March of 2003, Roger joined Developmental Services of Nebraska as Chief Operating Officer to direct daily operations of the non-profit, multi-city service provider. In 2006, he became Chief Operating Officer of Collaborative Industries. Roger is a graduate of the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.

Roger met his wife, Jan, at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. They have two daughters, Jessica and Emily. Roger enjoys playing music on a variety of instruments, bass guitar being his favorite. He has played in many Lincoln-based bands and still plays local gigs from time to time. He once played at an event where a young man in the audience commented to a pretty young girl, “The bass player is old enough to be your dad.” To which she promptly replied, “He is my dad.”
Roger enjoys spending time with his family, socializing with friends, riding motorcycles, camping, and brewing beer at home. He said, “My home brewing has really become a hobby out of control. ” Meaning that his involvement in the hobby has grown considerably. Roger’s home brews have won several ribbons at the Nebraska State Fair. He said, “Someday I would like to enter a beer in the Long Shot competition sponsored by Boston Beer Company (Sam Adams)”. The winning Long Shot entries are brewed by Boston Beer Company and distributed nationally as “Sam Adam’s Long Shot.” Roger participates in the Beer Judge Certification Program which has given him opportunities to judge home brewing competitions including the Nebraska State Fair and national competitions.
